Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics

Qualification and academic programs at LogDynamics

One of LogDynamics' central concerns is to connect scientists and institutions in the field of logistics in the state of Bremen with each other and with partners in business and society. The aim is to strengthen the transfer of knowledge from research and development between science, business, and society.

To facilitate this transfer, expertise in the field of science communication is important. That is why LogDynamics, in collaboration with experts, offers its members selected opportunities for interdisciplinary training. These include in-house seminars.

In-house seminars:

  • Presenting science
  • Writing about science in an understandable way
  • Agile project management
  • Moderation in research projects

Degree courses offered by LogDynamics partners

The training of future specialists is the focus of the participating universities. The University of Bremen, Constructor University, Bremen University of Applied Sciences, and Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences offer a wide range of undergraduate courses in logistics (bachelor's and master's degrees).

The members of LogDynamics actively support this process:

  • Supervision of practice-oriented theses.
  • Academic training for the next career step as a graduate or master's degree holder.
  • Close networking with Bremen's logistics companies through industrial cooperation.

Training of doctoral students

Doctoral students are trained at the International Graduate School for Dynamics in Logistics (IGS) and also as assistant doctoral candidates in the working groups and institutes of LogDynamics members.

Since mid-2005, the International Graduate School for Dynamics in Logistics (IGS) at the University of Bremen has been offering outstanding scientists from all over the world the opportunity to pursue a fast-track, structured doctoral program at a traditional logistics location within the LogDynamics research network.

The IGS was one of the first structured doctoral programs in Germany in a technically oriented field. Over the years, it has been able to obtain scholarships for international doctoral students largely from third-party funding or by supporting interested foreign scientists in applying for individual scholarships.

Since 2012, the IGS has been a partner in various Erasmus projects funded by the European Union, all of which are administered by the EACEA (Education and Culture Executive Agency). A selection of the projects that have been carried out is available on the IGS website.

The International Graduate School for Dynamics in Logistics has held a PhD Summer Camp for Ethiopian doctoral students at Texas Tech University, USA, twice in a row. A former doctoral student at the IGS is now a Research Ambassador for the University of Bremen in Brazil. Through continuous international exchange and the growing network of IGS graduates, the IGS is gaining recognition from all over the world.

Through the IGS, LogDynamics generates international collaborations that extend beyond the doctoral period in Bremen and range from simple visits to recurring funded collaborations.
