Prof. Dr. Jörg Freiling

Chair for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Start-ups, and Entrepreneurship (LEMEX)

Jörg Freiling is a professor of business administration (Ruhr University Bochum). After focusing on industrial goods and services marketing, business relationship management, change management, and total quality management, he has been working at the University of Bremen since 2001 on business model innovations, governance issues in the SME sector and start-up ecosystems, start-ups and migration start-ups, and entrepreneurial support systems. From 2006 to 2014, he was a member of the Collaborative Research Center 597 “Statehood in Transition.” During this time, he held visiting professorships at several European and American universities. From 2009 to 2021, he was a member of the dean's office, initially as dean of studies and later as vice dean. He publishes his essays in leading international journals (including Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice).
