ISL – Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics

The ISL – Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics – was founded in Bremen in 1954. Combining tradition and modern science, it has since positioned itself as one of Europe's leading institutes for research, consulting, and knowledge transfer in maritime logistics. On behalf of public and private project partners and customers, the institute develops practical solutions from innovative ideas at its locations in Bremen and, since 1997, also in Bremerhaven, and works on projects from all over the world in interdisciplinary teams. In its seven areas of expertise, ISL offers market analyses and forecasts, organizes application-oriented innovative funding projects related to maritime logistics, and develops and integrates IT systems.
