AutoLog: Automated driving on automotive terminals
Automotive terminals are logistical hubs that form an integral part of vehicle logistics in the German automotive industry. Despite this central role, automotive terminal operators face challenges such as rising throughput figures, limited terminal space, staff shortages, and growing demands for efficiency and flexibility. As part of the AutoLog research project, which is funded with €1 million from the Federal Ministry of Transport, the potential for optimization through the use of automated vehicle movements at automotive terminals is to be researched and realized. The project aims to increase the efficiency and flexibility of terminal operations by digitizing processes and automating vehicle movements. Project partners include Volkswagen Group Logistics, Deutsche Telekom, the Finnish software company Unikie, and BIBA – the Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics.
